Welcome back to Pro Wrestling Love/Hate. Send feedback to @Bow2TheKing6 on the twitta machine.
Love: The C.M. Punk vs John Cena Wrestlemania #1 contender match from RAW. All I can say is WOW. This was the best free tv WWE match, since the Attitude Era. This match was a gem. The crowd was into the match from start to finish. The submission counters, would make the most jaded Ring of Honor fan proud. The last part of the match was very relatable to an Undertaker Wrestlemania match. I was convinced Cena was gonna win (as I am with Undertaker at Wrestlemania) but several times throughout the end of that match, I “marked out” and thought Punk was actually gonna get the win. John Cena looks like a completely different wrestler in there with Punk. Those two have great ring chemistry together. I’d much rather see this match again headlining Wrestlemania, than The Rock vs Cena.
Hate: That “Once in a lifetime” will happen for the 2nd time in as many years. This match bored me at Wrestlemania last year. That was with a year of hype, and the freshness of never seeing the matchup. This year, I know what I’m gonna get. A boring slow paced match, with very little interest from actual WRESTLING FANS. I’m still hoping for Punk vs Undertaker to have atleast one big Wrestlemania match I actually care to see.
Love: That Mark Henry seemingly disposed of The Great Khali on RAW. It seemed that WWE was building to a Henry/Khali feud for Wrestlemania. With Henry for the third time squashing Khali on this past RAW, it would appear those plans have thankfully been scrapped.
Hate: That Mark Henry isn’t in a big time Wrestlemania match. The World’s Strongest Man has been a HUGE bright spot amongst all of the run of the mill, going thru the routine guys currently on WWE TV. Kofi I’m lookin at YOU.
Love: That Kenny King is the new X division champion. It’s about damn time. TNA had one of the hottest free agents in wrestling when they signed Kenny King. Then they had no idea of how to push or market him. TNA actually had him sitting at home during his peak of interest after walking out of Ring of Honor, with half the tag titles.
Hate: RVD in TNA. RVD seems very bored with TNA at this point. His matches are all just carbon copies of previous matches. I know RVD likes TNA because of the lax schedule and marijuana rules there, but I miss the old RVD that would break out new moves and spots on a regular basis. RVD has gotten comfortable at TNA, and his matches have suffered for it. Not to mention his TNA entrance theme literally makes me want to hang myself. Has to be the WORST entrance theme in Pro Wrestling history. Please TNA switch to an instrumental of Pantera’s Walk. I’ll take silence over that entrance theme.
