A McMahon Intervention and another win for Axel: Following a grueling cage match with Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules that visibly affected his recent bout with Curtis Axel, Vince and Stephanie McMahon staged what can only be described as an intervention to keep Triple H from competing and further damaging his health. Instead John Cena would fight the new “Paul Heyman Guy” in a NO DQ rematch – but once again outside circumstances led to another victory and a continuation of the third generation star’s winning streak. Ryback who had already thrown his match against Daniel Bryan by Powerbombing him through a table, burst in to the ringside area and speared Cena through the wood, giving Axel the win via count-out. It looks like when the ratings are at stake, WWE are still happy to pull out some plunder to please the fans. Jericho vs Punk is official: With CM Punk’s whereabouts still unknown one had to question whether he really would turn up to face Chris Jericho at Payback. That doubt was put to bed on this week’s RAW when Paul Heyman signed the contract on behalf of his client. Of course Y2J wasn’t just going to scrawl his signature and leave, not without humiliating WWE’s resident walrus. Once the deal was set Jericho rolled up the contract and deposited it down the front of the mad scientist’s pants, in what may have been a questioning of Heyman’s manliness. Quick Results: - US & WWE Tag Team Champions The Shield def. Team Hell No & Randy Orton, after Dean Ambrose hit the Bulldog on Daniel Bryan. - The Usos def. The Prime Time Players, with a Splash on Darren Young. - Alberto Del Rio def. Big E Langston, with a rollup. - Sheamus def. Cody Rhodes, after dodging a Moonsault and hitting the Brogue Kick. - The Great Khali vs. Fandango went to a No Contest, after an interference from The Miz and Wade Barrett. - The Miz def. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, after Fandango caused a distraction on the ramp. - Divas Champion Kaitlyn & The Funkadactyls def. AJ Lee & The Bella Twins, after AJ refused to tag in leaving Brie vulnerable to the Spear. - Daniel Bryan def. Ryback via Disqualification. - Curtis Axel def. WWE Champion John Cena via Count-out.
