Martha Hart refuses Owen Hart Hall of Fame offer:
Martha Hart (the widow of Owen Hart) has once again rejected an offer from WWE that would see Owen inducted in to the Hall of Fame.
WWE reached out to Martha about settling her lawsuit against the company, with the option of Owen being honored next year, but like every other year she remains stubborn and committed to the suit.
While WWE could technically induct Owen without her permission, they don’t want to jeopardize their chance of the lawsuit ultimately being thrown out. It would not look good on WWE’s part if they went against her wishes.
Martha still blames the company for Owen’s tragic death and is bitter because she believed he was about to retire from wrestling and spend the rest of his life with her. She was awarded $18 million in a private settlement over his wrongful death, but filed another lawsuit in 2010.
Although the first portion was thrown out, which boldly tried to argue that WWE had no right to Owen’s character following his death, the second portion of the suit is ongoing, which alleges WWE used family/personal photos without her permission and have failed to pay due royalties.
