On this day 22 years ago a future Hall of Famer in every form of the word he is the Highlight of the Night, The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla, Larger then Life; King of the World, Lionheart, The Man of 1004 Holds, & The Best in the World at Everything he does Y2J Chris Jericho. He fought in his first match Lance Storm in Moose Hall they fought to a time limit Draw. From that point at 19 in Canada’s Indy circuit then to FMW in Japan where he started to hone his craft in this business. Fast forward to 1992 He then moves to Mexico which is a different style then Japan & Canada. He wrestled for the famed CMLL company there he won his first major title which was the NWA World Middleweight title. That title he held for 11 months in Mexico he fought Ultimo Dragon, Silver King, Nergo Casas, & others. Then he went to Germany for a 6 week tournament, then in 1994 he went back to Japan until he was brought in by James Cornette teaming with Lance in the SMW. In 1994, it was the first time Chris actually began working for a North American Wrestling company. Skip ahead to 1998 and the feud that in opinion should he had a lot of potential I of course speak of his feud with Dean Malenko. Taking a step back for a second because I did skip around 4 years I tell you what he did during that time, he spet time in ECW, Japan, & began in WCW. The feud with Dean had such highlights including The Man of 1004 holds promo on Nitro, Chris actually going to Washington saying their is a conpiracy against him. In the Summer of 1998 some say Chris had his greatest success yet when he beat Stevie Ray to win the Television title. Around now is when things began to go south with Jericho’s WCW tenure and by 1999 Chris was once again one of the guys. Then again not many of them had his charisma so much so that before each of his matches he would cut a promo. But 1999 wasn’t all bad in this year he formed Fozzy his successful Band that is still active even 14 years later. Now instead of outlining his WWE career I will say this:
Chris Jericho in his 22 year career
has amounted a total of 30 championships 6 of which are World titles, he holds the record for the most times as IC champion at 9
He is the fourth Grand Slam winner in WWE history
He has done so much that I could bore you guys for hours saying achievements Chris has gotten in his career. All that’s left to say is Thank You Chris for 22 Great Years, We all hope for 22 More! And no he isn’t retired or retiring
