It’s AJ Lee against the world at WrestleMania XXX. Only one Divas match was announced for this Sunday’s biggest event, which will include all Divas of the current roster battling it out for the WWE Divas Championship. Contenders include Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Natalya, Tamina Snuka, Eva Marie, Naomi, Cameron, Aksana, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendez and Layla; all in hopes of defeating the current champion, AJ Lee. AJ has been the longest reigning Divas Champion with almost 300 days. She has been untouched since her victory at last year’s Payback pay-per-view. The match at WrestleMania was created by SmackDown general manager, Vickie Guerrero. In fact, she inserted her name in the match, calling it the first ever “Vickie Guerrero Divas Invitational”. Vickie took her brilliant idea to Twitter, asking fans what kind of stipulation she should add for the match: Vickie Guerrero ‏@ExcuseMeWWE I’m still thinking about what kind of match I should have for my invitational at #WrestleMania? Any ideas?? In my opinion, a Divas Ladder match for the title could possibly make history. Even a Championship Scramble could be interesting. However, when Vickie spoke on commentary on the latest episode of RAW, she had mentioned that the only way to win the invitational is by a single pinfall or submission, and that all contenders don’t necessarily have to pin the Divas Champion to win. What does this mean for AJ Lee? Does AJ have less chances of winning? Logically, yes, the probability of AJ retaining the title decreases. On RAW in the last couple of weeks, AJ has also been in quite of a losing streak. Many would then consider this as a misuse of AJ for various reasons… It could have something to with the fact that she’s the girlfriend—err, sorry, I mean fiancée— of the popular CM Punk, who walked out on the WWE after Royal Rumble. It also could be WWE Creative’s poor investment in the division because of their intense focus on the main event with Daniel Bryan. Albeit a losing streak on the TV shows, getting beat up on the episode prior to the event often means a victory on the pay-per-view. Not always, but often. Coming back to the Punk engagement news, though, it has also been said that AJ Lee could finally be dropping her title this Sunday as the first step to her rumored departure from the WWE, so she could settle in with CM Punk in Chicago. Punk has also been rumored to appear at WresteMania, but as a member of the audience to support AJ. Besides, with the growing popularity of the E! reality show Total Divas, it’s very likely to crown one of the cast members as the winner and the new Divas Champion. If ever AJ had to lose, my bet would be on Natalya, Nikki Bella or Brie Bella. Having Brie win the invitational would be interesting to watch if her fiancé Daniel Bryan wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event, too. However, there have been other recent reports that bigger odds point to AJ – given it’s going to be such a “face-heavy” card of winners, the finish would be leaning towards a surprise heel win. Who do you think is going to win the invitational this Sunday? Will AJ Lee retain her title and follow her fiancé’s footsteps? Sound off in the comments below, or tweet us at @Wrestling_Depot. You may even follow me at @niicolezv. …But in the end, who really knows? We’ll just have to watch this Sunday’s WrestleMania XXX to find out and enjoy the thrill of not knowing the outcome.
