Week 4 is in the books so we are pretty close to a third of the way through the college football season. Georgia was a little sluggish against Kent State, but overall the top teams were pretty solid this week, especially Alabama and Ohio State.
The Utah Jazz have been one of the most consistent franchises in the NBA, but they are now in full rebuilding mode after some playoff flops. That means there will be a new team at the top of the Northwest Division, where the Jazz have been at the end of the last two seasons.
Last year's division winner Miami had the top record in the Eastern Conference and won the division by 10 games so there is a lot of room for the rest of the teams to make up this season. Atlanta was supposed to build on last season's playoff success but that wasn't meant to be.
For as long as Giannis Antetokounmpo is at the height of his powers it is hard to bet against Milwaukee at least winning the Central Division, if not the Eastern Conference.
This week we are getting a deeper dip into conference play and thus some Top 25 matchups between familiar foes. For a lot of teams, it is time to show that what we have seen early is not a mirage.
That headline might be an easy call for any division that would happen to have the Brooklyn Nets and the sideshows that are Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons in it.
Week 2 NFL results felt a little less crazy than Week 1, but that was a very high bar. All you have to do is look at the way home teams like Baltimore and Las Vegas fell apart late to know that something is going on this season.
YB's Matt Wiesenfeld says: It was another wild week in the NFL and sadly another Survivor Pool fail on my part. Sorry everyone! (For what it is worth I am losing right along with you, Cooper Rush?
Week 3 did not have as much drama as Week 2 unless you are an App State fan. They should probably be getting their blood pressure checked this week just to be on the safe side.
There are some interesting games in Week 3 but perhaps not an elite one. YB's Matt Wiesenfeld takes a look at college football's Top 25 action.
It was a wild, wild, first week of the NFL season. Just like the real NFL, you cannot win or lose a contest in the first week (unless it is a Survivor Pool), but ugh!!
NFL Survivor Pools are supposed to be simple. Just pick an outright winner each week, using a different team, and try and last longer than your peers. Everyone should be able to last at least a few weeks, right?
There was a lot of interesting action in Week 2 as we got some upsets and some drama from the usual places. My apologies if the wounds are too fresh, Nebraska fans (sorry, not sorry).
Week 1 was a light taste of college football action. We got a nice upset by Florida but for the most part things kind of played to form. Week 2 is not blessed with a lot of top games, but there are good values out there. YB's Matt Wiesenfeld shows you the way.
Just to be clear, our Matt Wiesenfeld does not have an entry in a Super Contest but he knows lots of people are participating in competitions like that this season, so he is going to try to help this audience win week to week using the same basic format.
NFL Week 1 is a great time to share some thoughts about NFL Survivor Pools, one of the simplest forms of satisfying your NFL betting itch this season. Yardbarker's Matt Wiesenfeld will show you how it's done.
Let's have a look back at Week 1 in college football and see what we have learned and more importantly what we can work with as we make our plays for this week and beyond. YB's Matt Wiesenfeld breaks it down.
This week we are blessed with some good college football matchups. The headliner is Notre Dame at Ohio State on Saturday night, but it will be interesting to see how Utah fares at Florida.
Clemson finally has some real competition in the ACC. The hype meter is off the charts for several teams.
This weekend we have the start of the College Football season (finally!!). Folks are calling it Week 0 but the games still count, even if we don't have any of real significance.
From a betting perspective, things can get a little confusing this week. At a lot of sportsbooks you can wager on who is the best over the course of the weekend and who ultimately wins the "title."
The Big Ten has definitely been in the news a lot this summer and most of it has been for off-the-field stuff like bringing in USC and UCLA, and their recent massive TV contracts. All good but now it is time to hit the field.
The SEC has some of the best teams in America so a low total or an under is not necessarily an indication of a down season.
Well, at least Washington has settled on a nickname, right? Beyond that, it is hard to know what to expect from one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL a season ago.
The Titans play in a weaker division, but they have games against a lot of top contenders this season.
