At the Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Agit Kabayel (25-0, 17 KOs) will face Zhilei Zhang (27-2-1, 22 KOs) for the interim WBC heavyweight title. This intriguing heavyweight fight will seemingly provide plenty of fireworks with these two big punchers meeting. The loaded Riyadh Season card headlined by Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol 2 will be available through various PPV platforms. At the Grand Arrivals ceremony, Kabayel made his prediction on Saturday and expressed his confidence.
Kabayel has suffered throughout his career with periods of inactivity and frustration since defeating Derek Chisora in 2017. He has recently become a key player in the heavyweight division, with impressive wins against Arslanbek Makhmudov and Frank Sanchez.
Kabayel mixed his shots well in both of these fights but his work on his opponent’s body was particularly eye-catching. He broke both of them down in impressive fashion. Zhang will look to close the distance and let his hands go and hurt the German fighter who will need to move well and pick his moments.
Following his grand arrival, Agit Kabayel spoke to Chris Mannix about his mindset ahead of February 22, embracing the underdog role: “You’ll see on Saturday. The underdog shocks the world,” said Kabayel.
