Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury Could Still Happen After Jake Paul

YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and heavyweight superstar, Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) are in talks for a potentially controversial showdown next year. This will also mark Joshua’s return to the ring after being knocked out by Daniel Dubois last September. But there is one fight that fans have been waiting for, Joshua’s potential fight against Tyson Fury , with no sign of it happening anytime soon. However, promoter Frank Warren believes that there is still hope for the fight to take place after the Paul bout.

“It’s all about whether this fight happens with AJ, for example, if he fights Jake Paul and comes through it, and if Tyson has a fight. Who knows if they’ll get it on? It’s a fight that has not happened and should have happened. Is it too late? I think there’s tremendous interest in the fight,” he said while talking to Sky Sports News.

Warren’s words aren’t misplaced. Every time there is talk about Fury, the Joshua fight often ends up being the bone of contention. With boxing fans eyeing an all-British showdown, there is no denying that the fight could end up being a major crowd puller.

He believes the preference for the Paul fight is due to the money involved. Moreover, Warren also commended Paul for responding to the haters by taking a step in the right direction and stepping into the ring “with a former two-time world champion who is not an old guy.”

While there is a continued interest in the Fury vs. Joshua showdown, Warren believes that it should not be forced.

“Providing Tyson wants to carry on, I can see that fight happening. It’s up to the two fighters to make it happen. If they both want it and the terms are right, it will definitely happen, but nobody will force them into it,” he said.

“This Bizarre World We Live In”

A few years back, no one would have believed that Paul would step inside the ring with someone of Joshua’s caliber. And now, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that in a surprising turn of events, Paul is actually the frontrunner in the opponent race.

“This bizarre world we live in. I think Jake Paul is absolutely the frontrunner to fight Anthony Joshua next,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “I truly believe that you’re going to see it at the beginning of 2026.”

Additionally, he even had a few choice words about the fight, “I think there’s a very good chance you’re going to see it next—early next year. Don’t expect me to tell you, in my opinion, it’s competitive. I think it’s wildly dangerous. I think Jake Paul is a madman, but for some reason he believes he can beat Anthony Joshua.”
