BKB Bare Knuckle have added top boxing prospects the Vargas brothers Fernando Jr and Amado to their stable.

The duo are sons of the legendary two-time super-welterweight world champion Fernando Vargas, and have amassed impressive records of their own. They are both in their 20s, and join a host of boxers including Paulie Malignaggi and Victor Ortiz in removing the gloves.

Fernando Jr co-headlined Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford at Allegiant Stadium last year when he went the distance with Callum Walsh. And Amado famously ended Deen The Great’s undefeated run in Dubai back in December.

While bare knuckle boxing has been seen as something of a retirement home for aging fighters in the past, this signing is a very different type of deal. Both in their 20s, the Vargas brothers are still very much in their primes and coming directly off massive fights.

Neither has booked a fight date yet, but an announcement is imminent. David Tetreault, CEO of BKB Bare Knuckle, said in a statement today: “Signing both Fernando Jr. and Amado is a major addition to our roster.

“These are two athletes in their physical prime, hungry for success – and they see BKB as the perfect opportunity to achieve this. BKB is going mainstream and the Vargas brothers will play a huge part in driving us there.”

In the same statement, Fernando said: “My brothers and I are in our prime and we see BKB as the future of combat sports. I’m bringing the same ferocious finishing power that earned me the nickname ‘El Feroz’ – the kind of knockout hunger that can make me a world champion here just like my father.

“This is our chance to step up, fight the legends crossing over, and build our own legacy as bare knuckle icons.”

Amado added that: “We’re in our prime and ready to make our mark as pioneers in bare knuckle. What I bring is nonstop pressure, sharp combinations, and body work that breaks opponents down.

“BKB gives us the platform to follow in our dad’s footsteps, face the big names making the jump, and become world-renowned champions together as the Vargas Dynasty.”
