Boxing Insiders Slam Jake Paul Vs. Gervonta Davis – ‘Boxing Is Officially WWE’

The boxing community has reacted to the news that Jake Paul will fight undefeated champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition, scheduled for November 15 in Atlanta.

The news was first leaked by Netflix Turkey in a now-deleted social media post but has since been confirmed by boxing insiders like Mike Coppinger. Paul was linked with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. According to Coppinger, a deal for the Joshua fight fell apart due to network conflicts.

Paul is fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Meanwhile, Davis is coming off a controversial majority draw with Lamont Roach Jr. Tank had been ordered by the WBA to rematch Roach after their controversial fight, where the referee did not give Tank the count when he took a voluntary knee in round nine. That decision cost Roach from getting the win.

The weight class for Paul vs. Davis is a major issue. Davis is a natural lightweight, while Paul has competed at cruiserweight and heavyweight. The fight will no doubt generate huge revenue given Paul had reportedly earned $40 million for the Mike Tyson exhibition, with this fight likely eclipsing that figure.

Jake Paul will face Gervonta Davis on Nov. 15 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena in an exhibition on Netflix, sources confirm to @ringmagazine . Talks for Paul to face Anthony Joshua collapsed over network issues. Paul’s last fight took place at 200 pounds while Davis is a champion at 135,” Mike Coppinger

“Gervonta who has been disrespecting my name for too long. HIs nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone and I’m about to disable tiny boy. Yes, he’s 1 of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath,” Paul stated
