David Haye has announced a trilogy bout, confirming that Derek Chisora will face Dillian Whyte in what is expected to be the final fight of Chisora’s career.

The showdown is reportedly set for December 13 in Manchester, putting an end to the long list of names who have been mentioned. Rising star Moses Itauma, who is undefeated with a 13-0 record, was mentioned. That soon disappeared with Zhilei Zhang’s camp saying they had agreed terms, as they were waiting for Chisora. Jarrell Miller was then thrown into the hat, but Haye says it is Whyte.

“Talking about fights we’ve always wanted, it’s Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte three, for Derek’s last fight. I was chatting to him last night. It’s confirmed. He’s buzzing. They agreed terms like gentlemen, everyone’s happy with the split, and it’s going to be a fun one. I think it’s a 50/50 deal, 60 goes to the winner, 40 goes to the loser which makes a lot of sense,” Haye said

Whyte already has a winning record over Chisora, winning both their previous fights. The first was a split decision in 2016, followed by a 11th round knockout in 2018. However, Whyte was stopped in his last fight by Itauma this August. Whyte has three wins from five, with his last win against Ebenezer Tetteh in December 2024. As for Chisora, he has won three on the spin since losing to Tyson Fury in December 2022. Wins over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin have given him a new lease of life. Now, can he retire on a win?

The Approach

Chisora’s approach will be to use his engine to overwhelm Whyte. His primary goal will be to cut off the ring and drag Whyte into an inside fight where he can punish him with heavy body shots and uppercuts. As Whyte’s cardio has been a questionable factor in long fights, Chisora will attempt to tire him out early, hoping to recreate the late-round fatigue that allowed him to control large portions of their first two bouts.

Whyte’s tactical approach must be cautious due to his recent first-round knockout loss to Moses Itauma. Whyte will be under pressure to prove his chin. His game plan will be a disciplined mix of distance management and well-timed counter-punching. He possesses superior boxing skills and a dangerous, accurate left hook and straight right. He will use his jab to maintain space, circling off the ropes to avoid being trapped by Chisora. His best path to a third victory is to let Chisora come forward aggressively and then counter him with the devastating power shot that ended their second fight in the 11th round.
