Fans line the streets for Ricky Hatton’s funeral

Thousands of fans took to the streets of Ricky Hatton’s hometown to pay their respects.

A private funeral service took place at Manchester Cathedral to commemorate the life of ‘The People’s Champion’.

Beforehand, fans got a chance to say their last goodbyes to Hatton during a procession, which saw a hearse carrying the ring icon’s coffin travel 18 miles through the city of Manchester.

During one of the several planned pauses at key venues, a crowd was filmed clapping for Hatton.

Viral footage shows that they then broke out into a chant of ‘There’s only one Ricky Hatton’ – the song 30,000 British fans sang when they travelled to Las Vegas to watch their hero fight Floyd Mayweather in December 2007.
