Before the ultimate test in the trilogy against Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder was one of the most feared fighters in the boxing world.
Some time has passed since then and people have begun to write Wilder off.
Recently, boxing legend James Toney said that Wilder should hang up his gloves. Wilder has lost four of his last five fights.
As recent as a week ago, Global Combat Collective announced that Wilder will be making a comeback to the ring against Tyrrell Herndon in Wichita, Kansas this year.
Ahead of his comeback, Wilder has started making his rounds to promote his return. He recently appeared on DAZN’s Ariel x Ade: The Boxing Show and reflected on his injury history and his comeback.
Wilder’s return on June 27 will be his first bout since losing to Zhilei Zhang.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ is ready to return to the ring. When going into detail about the journey to the fight, he says, “We’ve had many opportunities, but we’ve had to get a lot of things out the way like recovery.”
Wilder continued, “We’ve been doing many different things, staying in shape most of all because we knew I was going to return, we just did not have the date to return because of all the injuries I had and the different things outside as well that was going on. We wanted to make sure that I was fully healthy, physically, mentally and emotionally.”
With more time to prepare before June, it will be fascinating to see if Wilder can shut the doubters up.
