Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) will make his return to the ring against Tyrrell Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs) in a 10-round heavyweight clash.
Their bout headlines a Global Combat Collective card at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas. Boxing fans around the world can catch the action live as a pay-per-view (PPV) on PPV.com.
Ahead of their June 27 fight, both men spoke with PPV.com. Check out what they had to say below.
Wilder is 39 years old and has lost four of his last five fights. It is extremely unlikely that he will ever return to world title contention. Yet, here he is attempting to get back to winning ways and to potentially set up a high profile fight. While Wilder is past his best days, Herndon is not someone who inspires much confidence in his abilities.
Herndon was the first opponent Efe Ajagba faced as a professional. That fight saw the American get knocked out in the opening round itself. He was also Richard Torrez Jr.’s seventh professional opponent. That fight ended via technical knockout in the second round. If Wilder is unable to stop Herndon, he should seriously call it a day as a professional boxer. Expect the former heavyweight champion to win this via stoppage in under six rounds.
