Promoter Don King via Don King Productions (DKP) has filed a multi-party lawsuit targeting Sela, The WBA, Ring Magazine, and heavyweight Michael Hunter.
The lawsuit alleges a “coordinated, knowing campaign” to breach King’s exclusive promotional rights with Michael Hunter following the short-lived announcement of a bout between Hunter and Jarrell Miller proposed for September 11, 2025, in Las Vegas as part of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight week.
King immediately issued legal notices to Sela and TKO Group Holdings, leading to the fight’s eventual cancellation. Miller cited “legal and regulatory issues” for the collapse, while Hunter claimed he had already ended his ties with DKP.
King’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, said multiple parties “colluded to misrepresent the rights and contract” of the fighter. The suit names Bash Boxing, Reid Boxing, and Epic Sports as contributors to a civil conspiracy. The lawsuit also states the WBA undermined its own directives to facilitate the Miller fight. King alleges the WBA ignored his exclusive promotional rights by facilitating and marketing a competing event featuring Hunter.
DKP is seeking compensatory damages “in excess of $50,000” and permanent injunctive relief to prevent Hunter from participating in any non-DKP events. This lawsuit also follows reports that Queensbury Promotions’ Frank Warren is preparing a potential $1 billion lawsuit against Sela and TKO for breach of contract.

“Multiple players within boxing induced and colluded with each other to misrepresent the rights and contract between Don King and his fighter,” Alejandro Brito (Don King’s attorney)
“This action arises from a coordinated, knowing campaign by the WBA and the promoter defendants to undermine and misappropriate DKP’s exclusive rights to promote Hunter, a professional prize fighter under contract with DKP.
“The WBA and the promoter defendants knew DKP held exclusive rights, yet they proceeded to organize, facilitate and market a competing event featuring Hunter, intentionally inducing Hunter to breach and/or circumvent DKP’s exclusive rights.
“DKP seeks preliminary and permanent injunctive relief prohibiting the promoter defendants from continuing to induce Hunter’s participation in other boxing events and from further interfering with DKP’s contractual and promotional rights, as well as compensatory damages resulting from defendants’ misconduct,” the lawsuit
