The undercard for Ryan Garcia’s expected fight with WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios on February 21, 2026, has been confirmed.
While the main event features two big names, the newly revealed undercard has divided the fan base.
Meanwhile, the card is a chance for Garcia to bounce back. In May, Garcia suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Rolando Romero, a loss that derailed a massive planned rematch with Devin Haney. The defeat followed a year-long suspension after his 2024 victory over Haney was overturned to a “no-contest” due to a failed VADA test for Ostarine. As for Barrios, he enters his first defense of 2026 looking to silence doubters who claim his best days are behind him.
In July, Barrios fought to a controversial majority draw against a 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao. Despite holding the youth advantage, Barrios struggled to pull away, leading Pacquiao’s team to dismiss a rematch, calling Barrios “not a big enough name.” This followed another split draw against Abel Ramos in November 2024, meaning Barrios hasn’t officially tasted victory in over a year. The intriguing element of this fight is that Barrios has teamed up with Garcia’s old trainer, Joe Goossen, for this bout.
“It just makes sense for me for where I am at in my career. Me and Joe are very familiar with each other. He commented on a lot of my earlier fights. I know his style and what he teaches and brings as a coach and a trainer. I want to do as much as I can in this sport and division in the next couple of years. “This move with Joe is going to help bring everything together. I think we are going to have a great run together. We can do really big things together,” Barrios said
