Light heavyweight hopeful Gradus Kraus produced a devastating display to secure a first knockout victory over the experienced Hungarian Attila Baran last night at the BetCity Arena in Utrecht in the Netherlands. The event was titled Queen and King of the Ring courtesy of Exceed Boxing, Next Generation Warriors and the Nederlandse Boksbond.
Kraus (6-0, 6 KOs) needed less than a minute to cause Baran (17-10, 10 KOs) problems and secure the knockout victory. The 23-year-old from Oss, landed a right hand that caused the Hungarian to stumble. Kraus quickly continued his pressure working the body with a combination, then finishing a left-right combination with a highlight reel knockout to the delight of the Dutch crowd.
In the scheduled chief-support, heavyweight contenders Willy Kyakonye (11-0, 10 KOs) and Michael Essomba (10-1, 9 KOs) were due to collide for the vacant BeNeLux heavyweight title. However, due to a disagreement on which gloves should be worn from Essomba’s team the fight was cancelled within a short time of the scheduled contest.
Also on the undercard, Dutch champion super lightweight Somay Bilal (16-1, 6 K.o) defeated Estonia’s Senior Kamanin (5-3, 3KOs) by unanimous-decision in a six round contest and Utrecht based Fazil Juma (7-1, 3 KOs) shared a majority-decision draw with Englishman Connor Adaway (8-2-1, 3 KOs) over six rounds at super bantamweight.
Ahead of the four-fight professional card, the Netherlands and Germany took part in an Olympic style four-fight competition. Sadly for Germany, the Dutch won all four contests by unanimous-decision. Jenairo Gomes defeated Omar Sloian, Aaliyah Hoppema defeated Maria Sedaia, Mahmoud Alchabtun beat Ari Berkant and Gabriella Werheim made it 4-0 against Maria Avram.
