Eddie Hearn wants Dave Allen to box Deontay Wilder next rather than the latter facing Anthony Joshua, but is he ready for the big fights?

Allen is looking for the bigger fights following his recent fifth-round stoppage win over Johnny Fisher. Allen secured a decisive victory, evening their head-to-head at 1-1. While a potential trilogy with Fisher remains an option, Allen has expressed significant interest in facing a name like Wilder.

Wilder recently returned to the ring against Tyrrell Anthony Herndon. “The Bronze Bomber” secured a seventh-round knockout, but his performance left many, including Tyson Fury, feeling he was a “shadow” of his former self. Wilder has said he wants a few tune-up fights, making Allen a candidate. However, that all depends on Allen winning his next fight.

Hearn Reacts

“Having Deontay Wilder around is fantastic. When you talk about the heavyweight division, he’s definitely one of the top 10, probably even top 5. Hopefully, he’s got his confidence back. Our guy, Dave Allen, wants to jump in there with him. That works. It looks like Wilder is looking to have a few fights just to get back in, and Dave might be the guy, and he might be the guy for the big banana skin. If he goes out and beats TKV [Jeamie Tshikeva], he’s really going to put himself in for Wilder,” Hearn said

If the Wilder fight doesn’t happen, Allen has other options. There is the possibility of facing off against Derek Chisora. Chisora has not boxed since beating Otto Wallin in a unanimous decision. That was his third win in a row following his Tyson Fury loss. That took his record to 36-13-0. Chisora has said he will retire after his next fight. Despite links with Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk, those fights have not yet materialized. Chisora could well face Allen in a mega domestic clash.

There is also the option of the Joseph Parker fight. Parker stopped Martin Bakolie in his last fight, as he is the WBO Interim Heavyweight Champion. He is in line to face the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois, who face off for undisputed. However, Parker will want to keep himself busy, with suggestions he is looking to fight in September.

The Future

Parker could take the Allen fight to keep himself active rather than staying on the sidelines. Equally, there is the Johnny Fisher fight. A third fight will put the rivalry aside once and for all. While some may argue that Allen beat Fisher convincingly, it is still a fight that would sell out. Either way, Allen wants the big fights.

“I’m hoping to go back closer to home, get a fight in South Yorkshire. Probably defend my title and get a few more rounds in, and then hopefully after a few more rounds and another win, look for a big fight really. “No names, I don’t want to call any names out, but just a big fight really. The biggest one possible, but I would like one in between. Defend my new belt, get some more rounds in,” Allen stated
