The fight between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) and Lamont Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs), which has already been postponed once, has apparently been canceled, according to the latest social media post by Tank earlier today. Although he kept it vague by saying, “The fight is f*cking cancel…,” he could only be speaking of his March 1 fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Although this was posted on his verified account, these days, you never know if that was truly him or if his account was hacked. FightsATW reached out to TGB Promotions & Prime Video about the post, but they have not responded. In speaking to someone inside Roach’s camp, they saw the same IG post but have not yet received any update with regard to its validity. Roach, being frustrated about the situation posted on IG as well.

Since the post, Tank has taken down his IG and X accounts but has recently re-opened his IG. Usually, if this were false, an immediate denial would be posted by Premier Boxing Champions, TGB Promotions, or the communications company Swanson Communications, which handles the majority of the PBC press releases. If something should come up after the release of this article, FightsATW will provide an update on the situation as it develops.
The Tank Davis vs. Roach fight has appeared doomed from the start. It was initially scheduled for December 14 at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, but for one reason or another, the fight was postponed to March 1, with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn now being the venue to host it. It was scheduled to be the second PPV of 2025 for PBC, which will kick off the year on February 1 with David Benavidez vs. David Morrell.
With speculation fueling the rumor mill that things have been moved around due to budgetary reasons, if Tank-Roach is truly canceled, it will not look good for the future of PBC events. With Turki Alalshikh having the rest of the boxing world under his umbrella, now more than ever, consistency must be maintained by PBC, who has done a great job of creating distribution opportunities for their fights since their existence.
So, is Tank Davis vs. Roach indeed canceled? We don’t know, but in a time when things are announced by Tank himself before anyone puts anything out, there has to be a belief that this is true and the details will soon be released.
