The British and Commonwealth super lightweight titles will be on the line when Jack Rafferty defends it against Mark Chamberlain on Saturday night.

Rafferty (26-0, 17 KO’s) is an unbeaten power puncher, and is currently one of the fighters that British boxing fans have their eye on as he looks set to move onto the European and world stage. A statement win on Saturday would certainly see his profile skyrocket through the roof.

Chamberlain (17-1, 12 KO’s) is a solid enough puncher himself, though the natural power is with the Manchester man. That being said, the Portsmouth native will certainly play his part in this exciting all British dust-up this weekend. But Chamberlain arguably needs a win here to keep his name somewhat relevant.

Jack Rafferty vs Mark Chamberlain: Analysis

Both men are respected domestically but lack that defining victory to push them into true world-level conversations, though this weekend could give them that career-defining moment.

Rafferty is an unbeaten, high-volume pressure fighter who looks to impose himself from the opening bell. He doesn’t give opponents room to breathe, and if he can walk Chamberlain down and force him into uncomfortable exchanges, he could overwhelm the naturally smaller man.

Chamberlain is a classical southpaw with tidy fundamentals and sharp counterpunching. While he isn’t as busy as the champ, his left hand is dangerous and snappy, and if he can time Rafferty’s entries, he may land clean and hurt him.

The Portsmouth man has the much better eye-catching skills, and if Rafferty’s pressure becomes predictable, Chamberlain could exploit the openings. However, the clear power advantage lies with Rafferty, so this one has the makings to be a very entertaining domestic bout for as long as it lasts.

Rafferty vs Chamberlain: Prediction & Betting Tips

The question in this one is whether or not Chamberlain can keep Rafferty off him for 12 rounds without being bullied by the bigger man. The champ will press and test Chamberlain’s durability, while Chamb erlain will look to catch him clean on the way in with crisp counters.

Given Rafferty’s aggression and Chamberlain’s own power, this doesn’t look like a fight destined to go the distance. Rafferty’s size, pressure, and durability may just be too much for Chamberlain, who will need the perfect fight to hold him off.

I’ve gone backwards and forwards playing this one out in my head and I believe the most likely outcome in this fight is a mid-rounds stoppage for Rafferty. I’m backing Jack Rafferty to win by KO/TKO at odds of 3.75 (Betfred).
