Jake Paul declares ‘the pressure is on’ Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul thinks Anthony Joshua will crack under the weight of expectations. The Problem Child believes he’s got nothing to lose on December 19 in Miami, while AJ carries the burden of proving he belongs in the ring with a YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Paul seems pretty confident heading into the Netflix spectacle. The 28-year-old is set to lock horns with the former two-time unified heavyweight champion in an eight-round mega fight.

Given their records, nearly every prominent figure expects Joshua to stop Paul within three rounds. But the controversial personality sees a very epic script unfolding.

Jake Paul states Anthony Joshua stands to lose more than he does

The duo recently came face-to-face in a media sit-down, where Paul dropped his theory without hesitation. He thinks the Brit will buckle once those opening rounds don’t go his way.

“It’s funny because the pressure is on you,” Paul told AJ during the face-to-face. “When I win the first round and the second round, I think it’s you who starts to crumble because all the pressure is on you,” Paul explained.

He says he’s fighting without any weight on his shoulders because expectations are already rock bottom. This holds some truth since many are blaming AJ for signing for this fight, saying the YouTuber is no match for his boxing pedigree.

So, Paul emphasized that he has nothing left to prove to anyone. “I’m fighting free. There’s no weight on my shoulders. I don’t have to prove anything,” he declared. Meanwhile, Paul believes Joshua carries the burden of living up to his reputation.

The Problem Child pointed out that AJ needs to deliver on the knockout everyone expects. “You have so much to prove,” Paul said. He claimed he’s already conquered the combat sports world through his promotional work and fights with MMA legends.

Paul thinks Joshua will start panicking if the rounds tick by without a finish. “I think it’s gonna be you that’s gonna be, like, ‘Oh, f—-, one round, two rounds, three rounds,'” he said. That short trash talk must have entertained the viewers, but Paul seriously acknowledged that he expects Joshua to be ready for the challenge.

Paul explained why he can fight loose while Joshua sweats bullets. “I’m going in there, and I can fight free,” he said. “If he starts getting touched up and loses rounds, I think the cookie will crumble.”

Their back-and-forth has become a part of boxing fans’ weekly routine, as the duo regularly throws rocks at each other through reporters.

For example, the Problem Child compared the setup to Joshua’s 2019 disaster against Andy Ruiz, branding him Ruiz 2.0. Joshua fired back, saying he wouldn’t crumble under any circumstances.

Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua –  size difference

However, their size differences are pretty difficult to ignore, and the visual contrast is comical. AJ stands 6-foot-6 and typically weighs around 250 pounds, while Jake Paul fights closer to only 200. AJ dwarfs Paul like a grown man standing next to his nephew.

The Netflix broadcast starts at 8 p.m. ET on December 19 with no pay-per-view fee. Subscribers can watch the heavyweight spectacle from anywhere and will likely tune in to see if Paul’s pressure theory holds water in the ring.
