The Friday, Dec. 19 Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua boxing match made history for Netflix. The streaming service announced the clip of Joshua knocking out Paul as its most viral post ever from a live event, 214 million impressions, according to Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal.
Netflix said it got 33 million viewers globally for the match, which took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla. While still a monster showing, it’s nowhere close to what Paul’s bout with Mike Tyson did in November 2024. That match, a Paul victory by way of a unanimous decision, had an average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million viewers globally and peaked at 65 million concurrent live streams.

Paul, who began his boxing career in 2020, fell to 12-2 in the ring after Joshua knocked him out in the sixth round. Joshua, a former heavyweight champion, improved to 29-4. Paul suffered a broken jaw courtesy of Joshua’s right hand.
“Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support,” Paul wrote on Instagram. “2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed. Have to have only liquids for 7 days so no @doghausdogs :(.”
For Joshua, this was his first victory inside a boxing ring since he knocked out Francis Ngannou in March 2024. Overall, Joshua wasn’t pleased with his performance.
“It wasn’t the best performance,” Joshua told Ariel Helwani after the bout. “I wanted to pin him down and hurt him. It took me longer than I expected. Jake Paul did really well, and he deserves his props. It takes a real man to do that, and he deserves respect for trying and trying and trying. But he came up against a real fighter tonight.”
