Jake Paul Reveals Why The Floyd Mayweather Fight May Never Become A Reality
Anthony Behar

Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) and Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) are undoubtedly gifts that keep on giving.

‘The Problem Child’ was last seen dishing out a rather controversial victory against ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson (50-7-2, 44 KOs) at the AT&T Stadium in November. However, there was a brief period when Paul explored a potential fight against Mayweather when Tyson initially pulled out of their scheduled showdown.

Paul was recently joined by his older brother, Logan Paul, in an interview with Erich Richter for the New York Post’s ‘Against the Cage.’ In conversation, the younger Paul opened up about the potential opponents he was eyeing for future fights.

“I think there’s a lot of names. I think Gervonta (Davis), Canelo (Alvarez), Tommy Fury, KSI. I want Anthony Joshua, the list goes on and on,” he said. Paul highlighted that his main goal was to become the world champion, and he was willing to face anyone who was on the pedestal at that time.

This was when Richter questioned him about the possibility of a Mayweather fight taking place. And Paul’s response might certainly not be one that boxing fans wish to hear. “He won’t do it man,” Paul said, “He said he would fight me. But I’d have to weigh like 160 pounds, which is physically impossible for me.”

Paul had contemplated fighting Mayweather in July after Tyson had to momentarily pull out of their scheduled fight. And with the significant weight cut that ‘TBE’ was demanding, he fought Michael Perry before finally fighting Tyson in November.

“Too Easy”

Mayweather, on the other hand, has an undoubtedly strong opinion about facing Paul.

As a guest on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon , he was asked about his thoughts on Paul vs Tyson. Mayweather confessed that while he doesn’t find it right, he would choose to remain silent as he’d face “backlash” regardless of what he said.

Fallon then pressed him on how he’d fare in a fight against Paul. “Easy, too easy,” Mayweather responded without skipping a beat. “At 48, too easy.”
