At the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, on June 27, Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Herndon headlined a Global Combat Collective card, broadcast live on PPV.com and BLK Prime Pay-Per-View. It was ultimately a successful return for Wilder, but many were left unimpressed by this win, including fellow heavyweight fighter Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, who spoke to Fight Hub TV and delivered a brutally honest assessment of the June 27 main event.

Deontay Wilder Makes Successful Return to Heavyweight Boxing

Miller Slams Wilder Comeback

Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) was disciplined in the ring and stayed behind his jab, which ensured he controlled the distance and tempo of the fight. “The Bronze Bomber” scored a flash knockdown in round two.

Herndon (24-6, 15 KOs) had limited success, with Wilder landing the left hook on several occasions and staying behind his jab. Wilder did miss some shots, but he also landed some heavy shots, with Herndon tiring in round six and Wilder scoring another knockdown.

In the seventh round, “The Bronze Bomber” connected with a couple of right hands, which prompted the referee to jump in and wave the fight off. Some called it a premature stoppage, but there wasn’t enough coming back from Herndon.

Jarrell Miller Verdict on Deontay Wilder’s Comeback

When speaking to Fight Hub TV, Miller did not hold back when discussing Wilder’s comeback against Herndon: “Deontay looked like a bag of wet dog s**t. Unfortunately, he did not look like his normal self,” said Miller.

“All I know is, if he fights me, I’m gonna put him in a body bag,” added Miller.

Miller Credits Wilder for Impact on Heavyweight Boxing

Despite slamming Wilder’s comeback, Miller did speak positively on Wilder’s impact on heavyweight boxing: “So, Deontay Wilder’s last name is called Wilder, the wild man, The Bronze Bomber, but Wilder. 17 amateur fights, was a bronze medallist. You can’t teach that s**t. Wilder is wild, and he wins fights. He’s unpredictable, hard to read. So why change that? That’s what got him to a championship level and kept him champion for a long time.

“I don’t care what anybody says about AJ brought the division back. AJ did not bring the heavyweight division back; Deontay did. So I give him his props for that, but at the same time, he’s not the same person right now,” added Miller.

With Wilder looking for bigger fights, could we see a fight between Wilder and Miller? That would create a spicy build-up and should provide plenty of fireworks come fight night.
