On Saturday, September 28 at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, Johnny Fisher (12-0, 11 KOs) will take on the experienced Ukrainian Andriy Rudenko (36-7, 22 KOs) on a Matchroom Boxing card with Dalton Smith vs. Jon Fernandez as the main event. Fisher has been interviewed by Andi Purewal at Boxing News and spoke about the importance of the Rudenko fight. “The Romford Bull” also looked ahead and named potential future opponents.
Fisher will be high on confidence, after his devastating first-round KO win over Alen Babic. Rudenko will bring plenty of experience to the ring on September 28, but it’s difficult to look past the relentless power punching of Fisher.
In his interview with Boxing News, Fisher was asked about plans for future fights, and “The Romford Ball” said: “The talks are Australia, so that’s the plan, but I don’t look past (Andriy) Rudenko.” He continued: “The only fight that matters is the 28th of September against Rudenko.”
Purewal then asked Fisher about the possibility of fighting Moses Itauma in the future and Fisher said: “Yep, Moses Itauma, Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora. When it’s right and it suits me, their all gonna get it, bosh.”
Fisher then paid respect to Derek Chisora and spoke about a possible fight between the two: “When I say Derek Chisora, Derek is my friend, I don’t mean that in that way. He’s someone that I look up to, and it’s not in a disrespectful way. It’s just that fights been put to me, and people are saying do I want it? Do I want to have that fight?”
He continued: “And Obviously, I’m a fighter. If that fight gets put in front of me like any fight, if it makes sense, like the Itauma fight, like the Dillian Whyte fight, like any fight out there. Dave Allen. If it makes sense for me at the right time, I’ve got the power at the minute to choose when I want to do it. All these fights are gonna happen. You’ve got loads out there, Frazer Clarke, Fabio my friend. These fights can all happen down the line.”
The Romford man was then asked how far these kinds of fights are away from him, and Fisher said with confidence: “It could be if the right offer comes in, it could be my next one.”
