The British heavyweight pair will be at it again in rematch on May 17 at London's Copper Box Arena in the major event of a show promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing.
Fisher and Allen met yesterday at a launch press conference in London for their DAZN-streamed headliner bout.
Essex's Fisher, who is undefeated in all the 13 bouts, attained a contentious split-decision victory, in spite of being dropped for the first time in his professional boxing career. Fisher (13-0, 11 KOs), therefore, bagged the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight championship this past December in Riyadh on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2.
However, this is what George Groves, former boxing legend had to say about the rematch,
“What does Johnny Fisher do this time around? Does he change stuff up? He came out against Dave Allen, who's a wily old boy. I'd like to see Johnny come back and learn from it, and implement a bit more boxing knowledge. You’ve got to up the levels if you're boxing Dave Allen. If you're in there with big guys who can take your head off, then you need to learn how to not get knocked out. I personally wouldn't have been in a major rush for the immediate rematch,” he said during an exclusive interview with the CasinoApps.
Doncaster boxer Allen (23-7-2, 18 KOs) has attained wins in 23 of his 32 matches, losing seven while two ending in draws.
"I'm excited to be getting another great opportunity," said Allen.
"To headline shows twice in London means a great deal to a kid from a small village in Doncaster. This time I will be bringing home the victory," he said an earlier interview.
