Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 2: Who Wins?

The most highly-anticipated rematch in women’s boxing history will occur in a state known for high-stakes matchups.

Ireland’s Katie Taylor defends her undisputed junior welterweight championship against Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano, a former seven-division world champion, on November 15 when both ladies collide in the co-main event to Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The 10-round bout will stream live on Netflix.

Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) was hurt badly and nearly knocked out by Serrano in their classic first encounter at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in April 2022. However, she dug deep, rallied down the stretch, and overcame one of the toughest challenges of her career to edge Serrano by split decision, thus retaining her undisputed championship.

For these two warriors, the stage has never been bigger. Serrano (47-2-1, 31 KOs), a former undisputed 126-pound world champion, believes she won the first fight, along with a good amount of ringside observers. Now she has a chance to not only silence her critics but also do so during an event that could watched by as many as 25 million people.

FightsATW looks at the odds ahead of this women’s legacy fight along with a prediction of the outcome.

Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2 Preview & Prediction

The first fight was very close, and both fighters had a legitimate argument to have their hand raised in victory. Since their first bout, Taylor, 38, has fought three times, including two contests with Chantelle Cameron, the first of which saw her unbeaten record go by the wayside. Although she won their immediate rematch by majority decision, some thought Cameron also won that fight.

Serrano, in the meanwhile, has secured five straight wins, albeit none of her opponents were on Taylor’s level. Despite that, it can’t be denied that Serrano is a complete fighter, technically supreme, and undoubtedly the hardest puncher in women’s boxing. Her footwork is the one area that could sway the pendulum towards her opponent. When Taylor wasn’t on the move, that’s when she was getting clipped. When Taylor wasn’t a stationary target, she got the better of Serrano.

Weight could also be a factor, as Taylor has fought at 140 pounds in her last two fights, whereas Serrano successfully defended her 126-pound belt in October 2023. While it’s understandable why some could see that as an issue, Serrano has proven throughout her career that she is one of the most disciplined fighters of her generation. We can expect another classic fight between these two future Hall of Famers but expect another controversial decision.

This is Texas, baby. We have Mike Tyson in the main event. Taylor-Serrano 2 is the appetizer to the entree. Do you think judges for this event want to see a boxing match or something a little extra? Serrano is bringing the heat, and in Texas, that might be enough to give her the win, even if Taylor manages to outbox her during long stretches.

I’ll go with the upset. I’m taking Serrano by split decision.
