Just once, sharing a card with the iconic Mike Tyson during his illustrious career, Manny Pacquiao stole the show in a big, big way.

Making a defense of his IBF junior featherweight crown, Filipino megastar Manny Pacquiao would make his third ring walk in the United States, having landed in North America with a hard-fought knockout win over the late Lehlohonolo Ledwaba.

And with former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson approaching his career swansong, Pacquiao would be afforded just one opportunity to share the same ring with the Catskills’ puncher.

Afforded chief support status in defense of his crown, Pacquiao firmly announced himself to the US market with a bludgeoning victory.

Manny Pacquiao’s bloody knockout of Jorge Eliecer Julio

Making his way to the ring before a massive heavyweight title affair between Tyson and British boxing royalty Lennox Lewis, fan-favorite slickster Pacquiao would draw the title charge of Jorge Eliecer Julio in Memphis.

And making relatively light work of Julio, Pacquiao required just two rounds to defeat the former, landing a stunning three knockdowns in the space of a minute en route to victory.

Busting Julio’s nose with one of his lightning-fast punches, Pacquiao would pin the challenger to the ropes after forcing a standing eight count, before unloading strikes before the official jumped to the rescue to halt the barrage.

Announcing himself to the masses with his knockout victory, Pacquiao returned to the locker room as Tyson went on to suffer a brutal eighth round stoppage loss to Olympic star Lewis.

Manny Pacquiao’s pre-fight history with Floyd Mayweather

Before sharing the billing with the heavyweight icon Tyson, Pacquiao would spectacularly feature beneath a headliner featuring future rival Floyd Mayweather.

In his sophomore outing in the US, Pacquiao retained his IBF junior featherweight crown for the first time, but not without some adversity.

Going on to fight Mayweather in The Fight of the Century over a decade later, Pacquiao would fail in his bid to win the WBO super featherweight crown after a series of headbutts from Agapito Sanchez split open several cuts, forcing a technical decision draw.
