Manny Pacquiao’s team has provided an update on his comeback plans, along with a list of big-name opponents they’re hoping to land.
Even though Pacquiao is busy with his promotional work these days, he hasn’t shut the door on stepping back into the ring in the near future.
He returned to action in July this year after a four-year break from the sport. The 46-year-old didn’t let a controversial majority draw against Mario Barrios stop him from chasing some big fights.
A bout had been taking shape after a current world champion showed interest in facing Pacquiao later this year. But since then, things have taken a few turns.
Despite early talks of a December clash, things haven’t gone smoothly so far.
World Boxing News reported that Pacquiao’s return has been pushed to January, after the Isaac Cruz vs Lamont Roach Jr. fight took over the planned slot.
Mike Coppinger provided another update during Inside The Ring, discussing the latest on Pacquiao’s second fight since returning.
While matchups with Conor Benn and Gervonta Davis would attract more attention, there’s a unique incentive for Manny Pacquiao to face Rolly Romero.
Earlier this year, the 29-year-old pulled off a surprise win over Ryan Garcia to claim the vacant WBA welterweight title.
If Pacquiao were to take the belt from Romero, he’d break his own record as the oldest fighter to hold a world welterweight title, likely achieving it at 47 years old.

The current record was set by Pacquiao himself at age 40 when he beat Keith Thurman in 2019—a victory that remains his most recent win.
