We have a domestic super-middleweight clash on Saturday night as Mark Dickinson defends his English title against Troy Williamson.

Dickinson (8-1, 2 KO’s) arrives with momentum on his side. The 26-year-old is coming off a hard-fought victory over Reece Farnhill in March, where he showcased his slick boxing skills and ring IQ to secure the English title. Dickinson is an accomplished former amateur with major international medals, and has always been tipped for success in the pro ranks.

Williamson (20-4-1, 14 KO’s) enters this bout at a crossroads. The 34-year-old “Trojan” enjoyed his finest hour when winning the British light-middleweight title in 2021, but recent years have been less kind. He’s now trying to stop a poor run of three consecutive losses.

Mark Dickinson vs Troy Williamson: Analysis

This is a typical youth versus experience type of fight. Dickinson is tall for the weight at 6ft2, technically sound, and prefers to control fights with his jab, footwork, and precision. He isn’t known for raw power, but he’s accurate and composed under pressure. Williamson is three inches shorter and is more rugged and physical. He likes to close the distance, rough opponents up on the inside, and land thudding shots to the body and head.

The question is whether Dickinson can keep the fight long and dictate the tempo, or will Williamson turn it into a firefight where his power could change the complexion of the fight.

Dickinson vs Williamson: Prediction & Betting Tips

This fight feels like a test designed for Dickinson to pass, but not without questions. Williamson’s experience and power will ensure uncomfortable moments, yet Dickinson’s composure, youth, and technical ability should be enough to see him through.

Dickinson has a chance to position himself for a crack at the Lonsdale Belt and even beyond. But for Williamson, it’s last-chance saloon. Either way, this domestic clash, with both men hailing from Durham, promises to be a very exciting contest.

Looking at the odds, you can certainly see why Dickinson is the clear favourite. There is slight value in taking Troy Williamson to win by KO/TKO at 8.00, however, that’s not where my money is going. My pick for this one is Mark Dickinson to win by decision or technical decision at odds of 1.80.
