The final press conference took place for Moses Itauma vs. Dillian Whyte ahead of their heavyweight clash on Saturday.
Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) has been on a blistering run, with eight straight knockouts in a row. He entered the fight with a win over Mike Balogun in May. Itaama has been tipped as a future world champion, putting the pressure on him to beat his biggest challenge in Whyte. Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs), 37, is a former WBC Interim Heavyweight Champion. After clearing his name following a failed drug test, Whyte returned to score stoppage wins over Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetteh. However, at this late stage of his career, it remains to be seen whether Whyte can pull off the upset.
“For a long time I didn’t think the fight was going to happen. But we’re here, we’re live, we’re ready. Been in camp for 14 weeks and ready to rock ‘n’ roll. You play the sheep to catch the wolf. I feel like that is what Dillian Whyte is doing. But if he is, or he’s not, doesn’t matter. I’m going to bring the heat. Man, I’m blessed. And you know what? I just had to take a picture of all you lovely people because I never thought this many would turn up to my fight, let alone a press conference. I’m blessed to be here and I’m grabbing this opportunity with both hands. This is the start of greatness,” Itauma
“Ain’t no sheep around here, lot of wolfs but no sheep. Listen, I’m someone who is not supposed to be here. Never had no amateur career, no support, kid from Jamaica writ of many times, meant to be dead before my 20s … but here I am. What more can I say,” Whyte
