The Bronze Bomber Is Back With Sights On Undisputed Championship Status

After his disappointing loss to Zhilei Zhang (27-3-1, 22 KOs) via TKO in round 5 of a match set to go to 12 rounds back in June, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Wilder has not been in the ring since.

It was almost clear that this fight would send him to an earlier retirement than he would wish for. The former heavyweight champion has announced his return to the ring, and he will be facing Tyrrell Herndon (24-5, 15 KOs) on June 27 at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita. The Bronze Bomber will be looking to announce his return with an impressive performance as he will not be overlooking his opponent and will need good results if he wants to move up and challenge for a title once more.

Wilder’s career has not been on the best trajectory as he only has one win in his last five matches. This would be a good start for the former champion to put him back in the limelight, as he has a few fights lined up. This is a good test for him.

Wilder, now 39 years old, became the WBC heavyweight champion in 2015, becoming the first American heavyweight champion since 2007. In his return, he plans to dominate the heavyweight division as his goal is to be the undisputed champion. For this to happen, Wilder will have to face much better boxers, and to dethrone Oleksandr Usyk will not be an easy task.

Among those in his sights is Jarrell Miller (Big Baby). Miller has not held back his criticism of the Bronze Bomber, and it looks like it has got him upset to the extent that Wilder would fancy a chance with him in the ring to shut him up once and for all, as he claimed that ‘Big Baby’ should have his funeral payments already paid.
