Tyson Fury claims heavyweight champions were 'gifted' titles

Tyson Fury dismissed the reigning heavyweight champions as undeserving beneficiaries of convenient matchmaking.

The former two-time world champion told ESPN that the current crop of titleholders were handed their belts rather than truly earning them. "They've been gifted their titles," Fury said, per the outlet's report.

Fury promises peak form still ahead

Fury, who lost his WBC crown to Oleksandr Usyk in May and again in their December rematch, insisted his career remains far from finished. He claimed his best performances are yet to come despite back-to-back defeats to the Ukrainian.

The 36-year-old Briton has not indicated whether he plans to continue fighting or who his next opponent might be. Daniel Dubois holds the IBF belt after Usyk vacated, while Usyk retains the WBA, WBC, and WBO straps.
