This year’s Mexican Independence holiday weekend in Las Vegas, NV, featuring the super fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford on September 13, just got bigger.
The WWE and AAA announced on Monday that they will host “Worlds Collide” live on Friday, September 12, from the Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. This is huge news, as the acquisition of AAA by WWE earlier this year has already seen record numbers for the promotion based out of Mexico.
This past weekend, WWE announced that TripleMania XXXIII was “watched by more than 4.3 million viewers in the first 24 hours and hit a peak live concurrent audience of 614,000.” The WWE also announced that the event drew 19,691 fans (the highest attendance this year for an AAA event) and “On X, #TripleMania was the No.1 trending topic in the United States and Mexico on Saturday, and a record 208 million views were generated across official AAA and WWE social platforms.”
With this type of momentum, it only makes sense to continue riding that wave by putting it on Canelo vs. Crawford weekend, which also happens to be Mexican Independence weekend. For those fans of both boxing and wrestling, they’ll have an opportunity to satisfy their content needs as both events will be in Las Vegas.
The WWE also sent the below via a press release earlier today with ticket and event info:
“Tickets for the event will go on sale starting Friday, August 22, at 11am ET/8 am PT via UNLVtickets.com. Presale for Worlds Collide tickets will begin Thursday, August 21, at 11am ET/8 am PT.
Worlds Collide will feature WWE Superstars alongside stars of leading Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA, which was acquired by WWE in August 2025 in partnership with Mexico-based sports and entertainment holding company, Fillip.”
