It was surprising when Connecticut Huskies guard Hassan Diarra showcased his range in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday.
Entering the Huskies' matchup against No. 1 seed Florida, Diarra had made just 27.8 percent of his three-pointers in his first 34 games. Still, that didn't stop him from nailing a deep three before the end of the first half.
With the No. 8 seed Huskies trailing 31-28 with less than 14 seconds remaining on the game clock and six seconds left on the shot clock, Florida guard Alijah Martin was smothering Diarra. The Huskies guard created space with a quick dribble to his right, splashing a long three-pointer.

Florida almost responded with another three-pointer, but guard Will Richard's jumper rattled out of the basket.
Throughout most of the season, a nagging knee injury has limited Diarra. In his first 34 games, the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder only averaged 7.8 points per game in 27.7 minutes per game. However, it didn't appear the injury bothered him on his shot from beyond the arc.
