One of basketball’s current power couples features Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic and Hailey Van Lith of the Chicago Sky. Both are navigating their professional careers with determination, looking to climb the ranks and make a lasting impact.

The timing couldn’t have been better for Van Lith, who had the best game of her young WNBA career on Sunday. She scored 16 points off the bench, logging 24 minutes in a big win over the Connecticut Sun.

Suggs appeared on SportsCenter on Monday, where he was asked about his girlfriend’s recent performance. He didn’t hold back, sharing strong and heartfelt words about Van Lith and her competitive drive.

“Hailey, I think, is one of the purest competitors that I’ve ever met,” Suggs said.

He reflected on how it felt watching her go through her rookie season, drawing comparisons to his own journey during his first year in the NBA.

“It’s been really cool,” he said.

Suggs added that Van Lith’s intensity on the court inspires him personally.

“Watching her take it on has been motivating. She pushes me to embrace the competitive side of me as well.”

He wrapped up by highlighting the mutual growth they experience through their relationship.

“Us bouncing it off each other has been great for both of us.”

Van Lith began her college career at Louisville, playing three seasons with the Cardinals. She later transferred to LSU, where she spent a season playing alongside Angel Reese under head coach Kim Mulkey. For her final collegiate season, she suited up for the TCU Horned Frogs, expanding her game and leadership in a new setting.

Following her college career, Van Lith was selected 11th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky. So far this season, she has played in eight games, averaging 5.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while adjusting to the pace and physicality of the league.

The Sky’s next matchup is Tuesday night at home against the Washington Mystics, where Van Lith will look to build on her breakout performance.
