LSU HC Kim Mulkey rips level of play during in-game Elite Eight interview

Known for her colorful and blunt personality, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey can sometimes rub people the wrong way. It is hard to argue with the opinion she shared during Sunday's Elite Eight contest between the No. 3 LSU Tigers and No. 9 Miami Hurricanes, though

While Mulkey and the Tigers ultimately emerged victorious, knocking off the Hurricanes by a 54-42 score, she was not happy about the level of play heading into the fourth quarter and let viewers at home know it.

Speaking with ESPN sideline reporter Brooke Weisbrod, Mulkey roasted both squads for their lackluster shooting, calling it "bad ball."

"If I was watching this game, I'd turn it off," Mulkey said. "Look at that score, would you? That's some bad offensive basketball."

Mulkey harped on the fundamentals, making free throws and easy layups. She indicated that no such fundamentals were present for either side. She was right.

Miami shot only 31.6 percent from the field and finished a miserable 0-of-15 from beyond the arc while managing just a modest 66.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Mulkey's Tigers were not much better, shooting 30.2 percent from the field, 8.3 percent from three and 57.7 percent from the free throw line.

Low-scoring throughout, the two teams combined for only 46 first-half points. LSU held a six-point advantage at halftime, 26-20. The Tigers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Miami 16-12 and were able to keep the pressure on in the fourth to advance.

While it wasn't the prettiest way to do it, the Tigers are moving on to the Final Four for the first time since 2008. LSU will face the winner of Monday's Elite 8 matchup between No. 1 Virginia Tech and No. 3 Ohio State.
