The 2025 WNBA Draft kicked off at The Shed in New York City on April 14. After leading the UConn Huskies to a national championship title, all eyes were on Paige Bueckers.
Speaking to ESPN before the Dallas Wings selected Bueckers as the No. 1 overall pick on Monday night, Bueckers said she's dreamt about joining the WNBA since she first picked up a basketball.
"Probably ever since I was 5 (years old)," Bueckers said, "just the reason I played the game. I love sharing the floor with my teammates, competing at a high level and just putting the ball in the basket. Ever since when I picked up the ball, I had big dreams."
The three-time Big East Player of the Year's selection as the No. 1 overall pick came as no surprise, but it was still an incredible moment for the 23-year-old star.
As she walked toward the stage, however, her jacket refused stay in place. She needed to hold her jacket in place to avoid a major wardrobe malfunction.
One fan posted, "Paige holding onto that jacket real tight.. " One woman wrote, "I like the fit Paige they should gotten her double sided tape because she’s holding the jacket making sure it doesn’t show anything."
While speaking to ESPN's Holly Rowe, the analyst suggested she was touching her heart while speaking but viewers knew that wasn't exactly the case. One fan posted, "Paige wasn’t touching her heart she was covering her jacket so it wouldn’t fly open. Stop making stuff up that isn’t there."
Another person wrote, "holly talking about paige’s hand over her heart babe she’s trying not to have a wardrobe malfunction."
A Huskies fan wrote, "Congrats to Paige! We’ll miss her, so much! Beautiful! (BTW. Sorry about the dress or jacket or whatever)."
