The Michigan Wolverines have begun filling out their Class of 2026 with designs on keeping their momentum on the recruiting trail.
Head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff have uncovered several diamonds in the rough while adding numerous four-star prospects to a 2026 class that includes 16 hard commits after a slow start to the season.
On Saturday, a four-star defensive back made an announcement that has caught the attention of Michigan Wolverines journalists.
Recruited by Michigan DB coach LaMar Morgan, his announcement could bring Michigan's commitment total closer to 17 by the time the weekend is finished.
"Stay tuned for tomorrow!!" four-star Class of 2026 defensive back Andre Clarke Jr. wrote on X Sunday in anticipation for his big commitment announcement.
Clarke Jr. is a 6-foot-1, 175 pound cornerback from Hermitage High School in Richmond, Virginia. He was called a "premier level playmaker" by Clint Brewster of 247Sports.com with the size, skills and tackling ability to play cornerback or safety for the Wolverines.
His size and potential as a physical, rangy defensive back gives Clarke Jr. a chance to follow in the footsteps of recent Michigan success stories Will Johnson Makari Paige and Rod Moore at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
Clarke, Jr. has offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Washington, Syracuse, Old Dominion, Minnesota, Maryland, Kentucky and several other college football programs.
The Wolverines' Class of 2026 has picked up a head of steam in recent weeks with commitment announcements from Malakai Lee of Hawaii, Zion Robinson of Texas and Titan Davis of Missouri.
A class that once appeared dreadfully behind its Big Ten counterparts now appears to be one of the strongest in recent years for the Wolverines with several high ceiling prospects in the fold with coach Moore's team.
A commitment from Clarke Jr. could help Moore's class continue to ascend up the ranks of college football as the Wolverines get ready for a pivotal second season with New Mexico on the docket for August 30 in Ann Arbor.
