Alabama Legends to Take Part in 2025 NFL Draft

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be well represented during the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, next week and that includes a pair of program legends taking the stage at Lambeau Field.

The NFL announced on Thursday that former Alabama stars Shaun Alexander and Terrion Arnold will announce a handful of picks in the second and third rounds of the draft on Night 2. Alexander will announce the Friday night picks for the Seattle Seahawks while Arnold will announce the selections for the Detroit Lions.

In recent years, the NFL has spiced up the second night of draft by getting former NFL players to announce the newest members of their respective franchises. The most notable example of this was when Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson riled up the Philadelphia crowd in 2017.

Alexander is of course the third all-time rushing leader in Crimson Tide history who was selected by the Seahawks with the 19th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. He spent eight seasons of his pro career with the Pacific Northwest franchise, where he won NFL MVP in 2005 while leading the franchise to an appearance in Super Bowl XL.

Arnold will be one of five active NFL players announcing the selections for his respective ball clubs, so he'll get the chance of personally introducing his new teammates to the NFL. Just one year ago, the former Alabama cornerback got to walk across the stage as a first-round selection for the Lions and was directly embraced by his new hometown fans in Detroit.

As for the Alabama prospects in this draft class, there is a possibility that one of them could be formally announced into the NFL by one of the program legends. Seattle officially met with quarterback Jalen Milroe this week and if the Seahawks are in a position to make a move on Night 2, they could tell Alexander to say the name of one of his fellow Crimson Tide alumni.
