Carson Beck’s Miami Transfer Draws Reaction From Georgia Teammate
© Sam Navarro / USA TODAY Sports

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck decided to enter the transfer portal and go to the Miami Hurricanes for his final college season.

Beck's girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, is on the Miami women's basketball team. While many thought that was the main reason for the move, Cavinder denied that recently

“Honestly, I was not involved at all," Cavinder said. "I know that a lot of people probably think that. But no, I was not involved at all. It was honestly what was the best decision for him and where he was gonna fit and be able to be successful."

Now, Georgia moves on without Beck, and reality is setting in for the Bulldogs.

Beck's former teammate and roommate Tata Ratledge spoke about the quarterback's departure, per Anthony Dasher of UGA Sports

“Carson has the opportunity to be the top quarterback coming out next year,” Ratledge said. “I mean, he’s shown it before. He just had a little bit of an off year this year, and that’s nothing against him. But I think him going down there is a great place for him to go rebound from what happened last year and have a great season.”

Beck put up strong numbers in 2023, throwing for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions along with a 167.9 QB rating.

In 2024, the Bulldogs QB threw for 3,485 yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with a QB rating of 145.3.

Beck suffered a UCL injury in the SEC title game and missed the College Football Playoff for Georgia with Gunner Stockton stepping in to replace him.

While Ratledge and Beck had quite the relationship, the Bulldogs offensive lineman is expecting a "great season" from the new Hurricanes signal-caller.
