Shilo Sanders is in the middle of an $11.89 million mess. And his accuser is blaming his father, Deion Sanders.
The former Jackson State and Colorado defensive back flunked a pro career, going undrafted before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a chance on him. The team released him shortly after he punched an opponent in a preseason game.
It appears the above could be the least of his worries. Shilo is set for a bankruptcy trial that could see him pay millions to a former high school security guard.
The younger Sanders stands accused of assaulting John Darjean at school back in 2015. He failed to appear in court, and an $11.89 judgment was entered in his absence, prompting him to file for bankruptcy.
Darjean recently spoke with USA Today and said he would have settled for much less had Coach Prime not disrespected him.
The ex-security guard apparently suffered serious injuries, which he says Sanders added insult to by calling him a “grifter.”
“I would have taken something,” he said. “I was thinking Deion was man enough to say, ‘Hey, here’s $200,000. I know my son messed your neck up. You’re damaged.’ Later on down the line, after he defamed my name, I wanted $100 million because I was that (expletive) off.”
“I wanted everything-plus after he lied on me on TMZ,” Darjean continued. “He will cut his own damn head off before he loses. That’s the type of person he is.”
Darjean sued both Deion and Pilar Sanders in 2016, but Shilo ended up on his own once he legally became an adult in 2019.
Coach Prime isn’t keen on bailing his son out either.
Shilo stands accused of punching and elbowing Darjean in the neck after he tried confiscating his phone at school.
His bankruptcy case will begin on August 31.
