Former Packers Pro Bowl safety joins Alabama coaching staff

Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix won two national championships as a player at the University of Alabama, and now, he’s hoping to be there when the Crimson Tide wins their next one.

The former Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl safety announced this week that he was heading back to the university to join Nick Saban’s coaching staff as the director of player development.

"That's where my life is heading: into coaching,” Clinton-Dix said, via the Tuscaloosa News. “Helping these kids, making the right choices as they get ready for their career heading to the NFL, and other avenues they want to endure after football is over with.”

Clinton-Dix played for Alabama from 2011 to 2013, earning consensus All-American and first team All-SEC honors in his final season. During his Crimson Tide tenure, he totaled 98 tackles, seven interceptions, 15 passes defensed and a forced fumble.

The Packers grabbed Clinton-Dix with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He went on to accumulate 522 tackles, 16 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and 5.5 sacks over seven seasons with the Packers, Commanders, Bears and Raiders. He was named to the Pro Bowl and was a Second Team All-Pro selection in 2016.

Green Bay traded Clinton-Dix to Washington during the season in 2018 in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
