Between Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter and true freshman Julian Lewis, the Colorado Buffaloes already had an interesting quarterback battle.

However, on Saturday, head coach Deion Sanders added to the competition after deciding to let third-stringer Ryan Staub see meaningful snaps. He immediately impressed, demonstrating poise and strong decision-making skills.

Going into Week 3, though, Sanders has not named a starter, telling reporters, "I haven't made that assessment or decision yet," on Tuesday.

However, in a video posted to "The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast," Klatt made it clear who he believes Sanders will go with for Colorado's Week 3 matchup against the Houston Cougars.

"There are some reports that Deion's going to go with Staub moving forward," Klatt said. "Now, these are not confirmed, and it's not official whether he's going to start the game or not. I anticipate that he will."

Staub certainly was the best quarterback against Delaware, completing 7-of-10 passes for 157 yards (led the team), two touchdowns (led the team) and a 98.9 quarterback rating (led the team).

The offense immediately caught fire with him at the helm, scoring on back-to-back 75-yard drives at the end of the first half and the start of the second half.

Salter, the only other quarterback to see serious playing time, completed 13-of-16 passes for zero touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 72.7 quarterback rating.

There's no doubt that Sanders thinks highly of Staub, saying, "He's the ultimate teammate. He’s the ultimate character guy. Those are the type of guys that we’re looking for," according to Fox Sports.

It will remain to be seen if Klatt is correct, though, with the Cougars being the Buffaloes' first Big 12 opponent of the year. The game is set for Saturday at TDECU Stadium, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
