Head coach Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines have added another talented tight end this week as their recruiting surge continues.

The first domino fell on Tuesday, as four-star tight end Matt Ludwig committed to UM rated as the No. 5 player at the position in the 2026 cycle (On3). Ludwig (6-foot-4.5, 240 pounds) hails from Billings, Montana, and chose the Wolverines over Georgia and Notre Dame, among others.

Joining Ludwig is three-star Mason Bonner, who announced his pledge to Michigan on Thursday. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end out of Denver ranks as the No. 21 player at the position and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Colorado.

Bonner's recruitment began to heat up this spring with multiple programs extending scholarship offers, including Penn State, Washington, Missouri and Tennessee, among others.

Michigan hosted Bonner on an unofficial visit this spring and continued to push for a commitment by sending position coach Steve Casula on an in-home visit.

Bonner was ultimately down to Michigan, Minnesota, Texas Tech and Miami, but it was Moore and Co. who earned his commitment.

"Blessed and grateful for all the opportunities given to me, I’m home," Bonner said via On3.

The Wolverines put a lot of value in the tight end position. Michigan has produced an NFL tight end in each of the last three years, including All-American Colston Loveland, who became the 10th overall pick by the Chicago Bears this spring.

There is plenty of ground to be made up in Michigan's 2026 class, which holds seven commits and sits fifth in the Big Ten and 19th nationally
