The Tennessee Vols are reportedly trying to flip a transfer player that's currently committed to Arizona State.

According to report from On3's Steve Wilftong, Purdue transfer cornerback Kyndrich Breedlove is visiting Tennessee this week.

The 5-foot-11 defensive back committed to Arizona State earlier this week after spending the 2024 season at Purdue.

Breedlove is a former three-star recruit from Nashville who signed with Ole Miss during the 2021 recruiting cycle. He played in 10 games for the Rebels in 2021 and 2022 before transferring to Colorado ahead of the 2023 season.

After one season at Colorado, Breedlove transferred to Purdue.

Breedlove has totaled 53 tackles and three interceptions during his college career. His best season came at Purdue in 2024 when he totaled 40 tackles and three interceptions while making 11 starts.

If the Vols decide they are seriously interested in Breedlove after he visits, it would seem likely that Tennessee would have the advantage over Arizona State considering the transfer defensive back is from Nashville.

It's unclear how Tennessee would use Breedlove in their defense. Jermod McCoy and Rickey Gibson are expected to be the Vols' starting cornerbacks in 2025, though Breedlove could certainly add depth to a unit that's lacked depth in recent years.

Update:

Well, it looks like we know why the Vols are looking for a transfer cornerback. VolQuest reported on Wednesday that McCoy suffered a torn ACL during an off-season training session. There's hope he will return near the start of the 2025 season.
