Trevor Lawrence feeling better than expected weeks after shoulder surgery

Former Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, recently underwent a procedure on his left shoulder. The right-handed signal-caller originally scheduled to be ready for the start of training camp coming off the surgery told ESPN's Stephania Bell on Tuesday that he's recovering nicely.

"As you know, this is really the first serious thing that I've dealt with, but I'm doing great," Lawrence said. "I actually feel way better than I thought I would at this point."

Lawrence threw for NFL teams last month so he could have the surgery on Feb. 16. By all accounts, he cemented his status as the best quarterback in the draft, but some experts have publicly criticized the notion that he's a "can't miss" prospect. Nevertheless, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., Walter Football, four CBS Sports analysts , and a plethora of other observers continue to predict that the Jacksonville Jaguars will select Lawrence with the first overall pick on April 29.

Lawrence is currently on track to begin throwing exercises in about six to eight weeks.
