With Trent Dilfer getting fired, plenty of interested eyes will be checking on UAB players to see who might be interested in transferring. Here are the five players who would receive the most interest if they entered.

WR Iverson Hooks – Redshirt Sophomore

  • 5-foot-10, 175-pounds
  • Pike Road, Alabama

After redshirting in 2022 and missing most of the 2023 season with an injury, Hooks finally began to shine in 2024 with 14 receptions for 179 yards and one touchdown. He is building off last season in 2025 with 30 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns in six games. Hooks has also returned five punts for 57 yards this season.

K Jonah Delange – Junior

  • 6-foot-0, 175-pounds
  • Mobile, Alabama

As a freshman, Delange handled kickoff duties before taking over as the field goal kicker in 2024. And that went very well, as he was named the AAC Special Teams Player of the Year after making all 31 of his extra point attempts and 21 of 24 field goals. This included making both of his attempts from 50+ yards. This season has been a bit of a step back. He has still made all 16 of his extra point attempts, but only 5 of his 8 field goal attempts. Considering he has made all 47 of his extra points and 26 of 32 field goal attempts over the last 18 games, his overall resume would definitely make him very busy in the portal.

DT Eamon Smalls – Redshirt Sophomore

  • 6-foot-2, 310-pounds
  • Ladys Island, South Carolina

Smalls has improved each season, with his most productive currently happening. He redshirted in 2023 and then totaled 17 tackles in eight games in 2024. This season he already has 31 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in six games. With his combination of size and production, he would be an extremely intriguing addition to many interior defensive lines.

WR Corri Milliner – Redshirt Sophomore

  • 6-foot-2, 180-pounds
  • Alexander City, Alabama

Milliner redshirted in 2023 before grabbing 24 receptions for 416 yards and three touchdowns in 2024. He was off to a fantastic start in 2025 with 17 receptions for 268 yards and three touchdowns in only three games but was then removed from the team for conduct detrimental to the team. He was supposed to return later this season, but that is likely now up in the air with Dilfer’s firing. If the off-the-field situations can be figure out, he would be an interesting target in the portal.

DE Chris Burge – Redshirt Freshman

  • 6-foot-3, 260-pounds
  • Leeds, Alabama

Young, promising defensive linemen are always a portal priority for schools. Burge fits that category. After redshirting in 2024, he has totaled 21 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss this season. This included a seven tackle, 1.5 sack, 1.5 tackle for loss performance against Akron in mid-September.
