By OU Media Relations NORMAN — University of Oklahoma redshirt junior linebacker has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Wednesday.
Owen Heinecke’s path to his outstanding game on Saturday was unconventional. Heinecke played both lacrosse and football in high school before committing to play lacrosse at Ohio State.
Owen Heinecke has yet to play a major role for the Sooners, but OU coach Brent Venables believes that he’s ready to play one if needed. Heinecke walked on as a linebacker at OU in 2022 after playing one season of lacrosse at Ohio State.
The Oklahoma Sooners have a ton of big-time names to the fan base as the enter 2025. They have guys that in Norman, Oklahoma, and around the state, are superstars.
