The most anticipated Asia Cup 2025 rivalry is here. The fifth match of the tournament will see Bangladesh taking on Sri Lanka at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on 13th September.
Bangladesh have been doing well in the T20I cricket lately; Litton Das-led side registered a convincing 7-wicket victory in their first match against Hong Kong. With this victory, they extended their winning streak to three matches. While bowling first, Bangladesh restricted Hong Kong to just 143/7 in the first innings, where Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossein took two wickets each. Later, they chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand. Litton Das scored a brilliant half-century (59 from 39 balls) and claimed the Player of the Match award. With a victory in their next match, the Bangla Tigers will confirm their spot in the Super Four.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is coming off a fresh T20I series victory over Zimbabwe earlier this month. They won the three-match series 2-1. The island nation will take some time to adjust to the surface of the UAE, but considering its form, it can pose a threat and will be aiming for a good start. Charith Asalanka is all set to lead the side at this mega event. The squad also brings a mix of experienced and young players. Where Patthum Nissanka, Nuwanindu Fernando and Kusal Mendis will take care of the top order, then Chrith Asalanka, Dasun Shanka, and Wanindu Hasaranga will take care of the middle order.

The venue at the Zayed Cricket Stadium is mostly a tricky surface, which is generally not a high-scoring ground. The bounce of the pitch tends to be on the lower side. As a result, the batters have to remain focused and work hard to pick up the good length deliveries. Moreover, batting under the lights remains a major factor here, where batters in the second innings face major issues, and it remains a tough task. In addition, the average first innings score averages between 140 and 150, which is generally an under-par total. However, as the game progresses, off-spinners and medium pacers will get some help.
The weather is expected to remain hot and humid throughout the entire match, with no rain predicted. The conditions are expected to be humid with 50-60% humidity. The maximum temperature will be around 38-42 °C, followed by a wind speed of 15 kmph.

By looking at the recent form of both teams, this match is going to be favourable for Bangladesh as they are coming into this tournament on the back of phenomenal form. Moreover, they recently defeated 2-1 in the three match T20I series against Sri Lanka and would be looking to repeat the same performance here in the Asia Cup 2025 match.
